Gifts of Security

People who own stocks, bonds, or mutual funds are happy when their investments increase. Unfortunately, when you convert your investment to cash, the capital gain is taxable. By directly donating your publicly listed securities to the Central Okanagan Food Bank will pay no capital gains tax on their increase in value.

The Central Okanagan Foodbank holds an account with Qtrade Advisor, a division of Credential Qtrade Securities Inc. and the benefactor will have forms successfully completed and executed. This ensures an efficient transfer of in-kind investment donations directly from your personal investment account to the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

Before we can accept any securities as a donation, please Contact Us so that the investment may be reviewed to ensure it is an acceptable security that is transferable.

An official tax receipt will be issued upon the successful transfer (donation) of in-kind Securities.
